Most edits start with choosing a Film Type. For this image, we’ve selected
the classic Kodak 100 TMAX Pro, instantly boosting the contrast.

Next, we make some U Point™ local adjustments to shape the light.
We darken the top and bottom of the image using Control Lines, and then
use a Control Point to knock back the brightness on the right-hand side.

Finally, in the Finishing Adjustments palette, we add a gentle vignette,
an analog-style border, and then a Selenium tone to complement the
cold, urban feel.

When contrast is essential, try this to add more drama to your images.
Originally designed by DxO to reduce haze and fog, it’s a great tool for black-and-white. Try it out on all sorts of images, from moody landscapes to add dramatic cloud detail, to characterful portraits where it can create that gorgeous metallic feel.
The powerful Color Filter tool
Nik Silver Efex lets you cook up some intense monochrome recipes.
Just like the colored filters you would fit on a lens, the Color Filter tool reduces the intensity of some tones based on their original color, while leaving others bright. For example, an orange filter will make a blue sky darker.
Cycle through the preset filter options including classics like red, yellow, and blue, or use the Hue slider to create your own, but don’t forget to pump up the Strength for real drama and impact!
